BETTER BACKWARDS - FAT SAMS - 1988

I missed out on Better Backwards when I departed early '87 so don't know much about them other than what's in this article from Street Life mag.
It's a write-up of a gig they played at Fat Sams on 17th January 1988. A good appraisal it is too, with reviewer Pete Hood getting fairly worked up about their performance!
The band on the night were - BRIAN LINDSAY, vocals - MIKE BROWN, bass - ANTH BROWN, guitar - MARC HAMILTON, keyboards and BARRIE GIBSON, drums. Why are drummers always last on the list?!
Anyway, you'll need to click onto the image to read the enlarged version.

  1. Mike Brown went on to run Seagate Studios and now lectures on sound engineering, his brother Anth went down south and also did sound engineering, but formed Electric Music AKA.

  4. great live band should have got signed to a label. Anth and Mike were already running the seagate with I think Stu Firm as well. Pete used the studio and wasn't going to give the guys a bad review (not that they deserved one).

  5. Think I was at this gig. Great band, an awfy shame they didn't become massive. Mike and Anth were (and still are) thoroughly sound chaps, I'm proud to now be running the Seagate Studio, a landmark for the local music scene established by Mike and Stu over the last few decades.

Not being funny but the first time I saw Anth Brown in the Tayside Bar I presumed that someone had brought their small child along
