MYSTERY AUTHOR - 1980's

I'm going to have to rely on your assistance for this one.
The Bear sent me these photos of an author taken in Dundee around the mid/late 80's period, but he no longer has the details of who he is.
All the info I have is that he has a connection with local historian, Graeme Smith, and he has been featured in the Scotland On Sunday newspaper.
Anybody recognise him?

  1. I'm pretty sure it is a guy called Danny Boyle - not to be confused with the film director of the same name. He was a lecturer at Constitution Road before success as a writer. He penned a couple of BBC plays in the late 80s - 'Leaving', and 'A View of Harry Clark' and went onto to do a few episodes of Inspector Morse and Hamish Macbeth.
