McGONAGALL'S - PERTH ROAD - 1984

For those who indulged in pub crawls along the length of Perth Road in the 80's, you may remember McGonagall's, roughly the halfway marker.
The pub was really 2 in 1 because downstairs in the basement was "Sammy Cahn's", who funnily enough was another wordsmith, but from across the water...and I don't mean Fife!

  1. The pub was a good stop off before a few jars down the Westport at Tally's, The Globe and Micky Coyle's before a great King Prawn Curry out the 'kerry oot' next to The Phoenix. Denboy

  5. As students of Duncan of Jordanstone we spent many a lunchtime in there. It made afternoon lectures a lot more interesting!

  6. In the late 80's, well known publican Jon Stewart took on the place and it went from about 6 customers to 6 deep at the bar. What went wrong?

  7. Was this bar created by Bill Potter’s Mum? I was introduced to Bill by my old friend Mike Rogers (he and Bill were from Dundee) when we all worked as architects at the Greater London Council in the 1970’s.
