PERTH ROAD'S CANADIAN SHOP - 80'S

Those of you who frequented places like the Centre Bar, Club Feet and other youthful dens in town in the 70's & 80's will probably remember (Fast) Eddie Donnelly.
Well after his first trade went bust, he opened up this fashion shop in the Perth Road, the clothing on the racks being stuff he imported from North America.
The shop may have been called Dan Rivers, not 100% sure, although that's a name that crops up on the funky interior design.
Eddies co-owner was George Craigie, and Billy Shaw helped out in the shop - this was sometime around the mid/late 80's period.

  1. I remember this shop. In the old Bakery? I don't think it was there for very long. I've not seen Eddie for a long time, what is he up to these days? He used to be a regular at Dens Park, think we got into a 'situations' with oposing fans a few times. Good memories though.

  5. Ahhhh right ok. I know where you are now....still can't remember it ever being open despite being at DoJCA during the 80s and spending a lot of time at McGonigall's (now and for a while Drouthy's)and all the other Perth Road hostelries!
The Tav has been Clancey's Irish bar for a couple of years now.

  11. George Craigie is my brother and Eddie was his mate and business partner in what was indeed called Dan Rivers. The artwork in the shop was done by Mark Cassidy (Sammy) who has now sadly left us. The shop did flourish but only for a short period.

  13. Glad to hear Eddie is still kicking around. Does he still does he still go to the games? Some terrific memories following the dark blue of Dundee in the 70’s. Some crazy situations. Regards to George as well. Not seen him for a good few years now.
