OUTPOST ADVERT - 1974

The place to go for all your hippy knick-knacks in the 70's was, Outpost, in Princes Street. They did have a shop in Exchange Street too, but I'm not sure if they moved there after Princes St or if this was an additional 2nd shop.
Along with the gear they have listed in the ad, I'd like to add joss-sticks to it!

  2. can I add patchouli and various other honkin' oils to that list.

I only remember being in the one in Exchange Street, which was certainly still there in 1982.

  4. This was my favourite shop in the late 70's. Used to buy little boxes of assorted colours of beads and sit all night stringing them together to make "love beads" Also it was the only place at that time in Dundee that sold patchouli oil and real middle-eastern khol powder for your eyes. Can't remeber the guy's name now but he was really nice.

  5. My partner seems to think that the owner was a big friendly bear of a man possibly called Sandy.

  7. Captain Vulturo's Rock Shop was his last venture in Dundee in the old High Step shop in exchange street. I think he headed to Edinburgh after that. His wife/partner had Poppets up Albert Street I think.

This may all be a load of pish of course but I think his name was Sandy.

Great site by the way, loads of great old memories.

  8. I remember the Outpost being in Perth Road next to the first Groucho's. That would've been 76/77 ish. Me and my neebor used to spend hours bugging big Sandy on Saturdays while we decided what joss sticks to spend our 30p on. As others have said, the guy was a total sweetheart.
