INSIDE KINGSWAY ICE RINK

The top image is a wee reminder of how the entrance area to Kingsway Ice Rink looked - complete with curling stone and skater inlays.
The other image is a wee reminder of how the skaters at Kingsway Ice Rink looked - complete with mid 70's fashions.
You can tell it's 1974/75 by the high-waister jerseys that were all the rage at the time.
I've even spotted someone in the centre of the crowd wearing a "6 bander" - the cuffs went right up to your elbows and the waistband reached your chest. Classic!!

  4. Fantastic blast from the past. Used to love the Rink. Sat nights and Sunday morning Ice Hockey practice.

  5. Memories of shivering outside on a winter's night, looking across at the floodlights on the Ardler multis and with the traffic roaring past, looking forward to two hours on the ice with a Kingsway Cabin greasy pie half way through.

And if anyone saw their mates and tried to cut in, they could expect vigilante action with the chorused rebuke of 'Thir's a QUEUUUE!'

  6. the hire skates used to give you really sore feet how I envied those guys in their tubeskates on a Saturday night when after an hour or so Id be crippilin about and they'd be sliding to a stop in a flurry of ice spray impressin' the ladies, although I think most were repressed gays into foot bondage. ;D

  10. Pretty much just left of centre staring with my mouth hanging open. I've got a two tone top on. Could be any time between late 74 and early 76 I guess. "Tell Him" by Hello has probably just played, they only had a few records. I think I recognise a few others, too.
