THAT SOLVES THE MYSTERY!
Seeing this Mothers Pride packaging again reminds me of being a bairn in the 60's. Not just jam pieces, but there was Gales Lemon Curd, Condensed Milk, Lyons Golden Syrup and gooey treacle. All nice and messy for kids!
Nowadays the red stripes on the wrapping have disappeared and have been replaced with the official "Mothers Pride Tartan".
Plain plaid..!!

ReplyDeleteWe used the mothers pride wrapper to grease the slide on the chute in the park.It made it very slippy.
ReplyDeleteAround 1976/77. used to work for Mothers Pride as a van boy on Saturdays. Their depot was opposite where Toys R US are, infact, maybe on the site of B&Q. Good memories working till 11, getting paid then hitting Dens Park or the train station for away games.
ReplyDeletei use to help a mothers pride breadman in 1960s 10 bob for sat loved it then left school became a milkman in 1973 worked as a roundsman for mothers pride myself but like all now the disappearing bread and milk now i drive buses loved the old days deep snow fog etc lovely days then from roy the brummie
ReplyDeleteRemember Mothers Pride being made at Beatties Bakery on Kings Cross Road.Had it's boundary with Lochee Harps ground on one side and the old railway on another.As a wee beechie boy sneekin in and going through the big bins and getting burnt fruit cake,magic!
