One of the best radio presenters I have ever heard helped set Radio Tay up. He was the stations first head of music. He was the late great Kenny Page. One of the most entertaining and funny radio presenters ever.
ReplyDeleteSadly Kenny passed away in July 2002.
Dont forget Alan McKenzie who also help set the station up and who's records sere played on the station
ReplyDeleteGerry Quinn's official opening was preceeded by some comic fumbling about and ad-libs ('is it this ane we press?, kind of stuff) I recall setting the alarm and getting up really early for the opening. His great jingle was "Switch on the wireless, pour a cup o' tea, take some corn flakes, leave some for me etc"
ReplyDeleteGerry Quinn is now the deputy Rector at Harris Academy in Dundee and teaches English
