Here's an interesting article about how the Square Peg cafe in Constitution Road came to be.
Started up in 1984 by 4 gals - Audrey, Joan, Dorothy & Lynne.
I'll let you read all about it yourselves rather than me put up a lengthy caption.
What the article doesn't have is that the cafe lasted roughly 2 ½ years, then in 1986 it was transformed into a cafe called Truffels.
And that's Truffels with the wrong spelling.
Owner, Jeanette French, was informed of the incorrect spelling but decided to just keep it as it was.
Opening day was on 4th August 86.
