LARG'S AND SMITHS ADS - 1966

Continuing with the adverts in the 1966 Bridge Souvenir Supplement - here's another 2.
I reckon Larg's missed a good opportunity to have a bit of fun with the wording in their caption, and could have related more appropriately with the images of the musical instruments.
They opted to say "The new bridge is another link in our chain of contacts...". To me, that makes them sound like ironmongers!
How about something like "Larg's - in tune with progress". Much better, and I won't charge a fee for that one!
Smith Brothers department store, on Murraygate/Commercial St corner, saw themselves as a city attraction that would get everyone flocking across the bridge to visit them!
They did have the Globe Restaurant I suppose.
Can anyone remember what their Mannequin Parades were like?
You'll need to click onto the Smiths ad to read the large version.

THE SMITHS - CAIRD HALL - 1985

In my April 2009 Archives there is a track by The Smiths recorded at Dundee University in 1984. You may recall, Morrissey took a tantrum and had a pop at certain members in the crowd who were throwing beer onto the stage.
Well a year later, a change of venue, and all is well between the lead singer and the Dundee audience again. In fact, on this recording from the Caird Hall gig in September '85, at the end of the song "Hand In Glove", he let's it be known what "great people" there are in Dundee!!
The b&w multi image on top comes from an old Face magazine I have from the 80's.

THE SMITHS - DUNDEE UNIVERSITY - 1984

The recording below is from a gig by The Smiths who were playing at Dundee University on 3rd March 1984.
Morrissey gets a bit stroppy on this as a result of someone in the audience splashing the stage with beer. The song "This Charming Man" was stopped and we pick it up as Morrissey gives the culprit a ticking off, and it being 1984, finishes by saying "The world is watching you, Dundee!" before giving the song a 2nd go.
So there, be on your best behaviour next time!
Incidentally, the Smiths badge of mine is just my wee joke, it has nothing to do with The Smiths.
Having said that, the track is a nice crisp recording!!
