Stout Brothers garage & showroom was in the Marketgait in the 80's and the above items date from then.
The advert is from January 1988 and is basically letting it be known that the new Peugeot 405 won the "Car Of The Year" title.
The photos were taken in 1985 and remind us that Stouts were also Talbot dealers.

Thanks for posting this. Marcus Stout (one of the Stout bros.) was my great uncle.
ReplyDeleteMy father worked here when they had the new name sign put up. It originally said "Stout Brothens"; the reason being that the sign erectors had broken the last letter "R" in their van and were left with choice of either "N" or "L". Sensibly they chose the "N" until a new letter "R" arrived a few days later.
ReplyDeleteBefore Stouts bought this garage it was The Angus Garage. I remember my Dad buying an Avenger there in the early 70s.
