LOCHEE HIGH STREET - 1987

Traipsing further up along Lochee Road to the High Street, here's a reminder of how the scene looked on 6th July 1987.
Apart from the church, most of the buildings are still around today, although not necessarily as the same businesses that are in shot. For example the amusements have gone, the bank on the corner has changed and I'm sure there will be one or two others.

  2. Used to work here at Largs, on the photographic and musical instrument counter up till 1971, lunch was a hot mince roll at the Silver Tassie, lovely grub it was too.

    1. When did the Silver Tassie pub change it's name to The Sporting Lounge?

  3. I don't think you could get a more 1980s-looking bloke than the guy holding the baby. Floppy-fringed mullet, bumfluff moustache, white t-shirt, stone-washed jeans. Bet he listened to Level 42...

  4. Poor lochee its like a ghost toon now. Ironically since tesco closed, its been left to rot,Yet it was Tesco that closed the majority of the wee shops in the first instance. I have a pal with a shop on the High street, god knows how long he will last now the RBS is pulling out.
