Moving on to the 2nd selection of images of unknown bands playing at Fat Sams in the mid/late 80's.
A couple of the acts in this lot look familiar to me but I just can't quite put a name to them.
If you're not so sure who they are either, you may have better luck spotting someone you know in the crowd.

The guy fronting the band in picture 10 looks a bit like Andy White to me. I remember him just as a solo act though, no backing group, so I'm 50-50 on that one.
ReplyDeleteI've got a list of some of the acts who played the Dance Factory around the time these photos were taken - so if anyone thinks they can match the images to the names below, be sure to let us know.
ReplyDeleteHere goes...
Pop Will Eat Itself - The Motorcycle Boy - The House Of Love - The Oyster Band - Mighty Lemon Drops - Nyah Fearties - Le Roux - The Men They Couldn't Hang - Close Lobsters - New York Pig Funkers - Texas - Loop - Fairground Attraction - Slide - The Critterhill Varmints - Avo-8 - Balcony Dogs - The Silencers - The Wedding Present - The Bible - The LA's - The Weather Prophets.
(this list will accompany the other batch of photos too)
Pic 12 is the Mighty Lemon Drops... could pic 3 be the Armoury Show? Looks like Jobbo Jobson!
ReplyDeleteSorry to go off-piste here...but has the drummer in Pic 3 just taken a boot in the gonads?
ReplyDeleteBack to band-spotting now...
That's picture 4 anon, but yeah you're right enough, he does seem to be suffering for his art!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the band spotting progress Alan.
That guy does have the Jobbo jaw, but I just can't imagine Jobson wearing a Public Enemy t-shirt. I mean, he used to don a cricket jersey!
Its not the armoury show Alan as John Mcgeogh was the guitarist and that doesn't look like him playing the guitar
ReplyDeleteyep 10 is Andy White, would 8 be the Big Dish? while 7 is definately The Indian Givers.
ReplyDeleteMy Band Friends of Gavin supported the Armoury Show in October 1985
ReplyDeleteI think 11 might be BLAM BLAM YC
