That's a great image for the hull archive. No facebook / MSN / Txt message threats here, proper word on the street BEWARE. I like it. Says what it does on the tin. The question is, was it more dangerous walking down that part of the Hull then (77-83?) or now...
More dangerous back in the day if you were in your teens / 20's and it was late at night or after the football for sure. More dangerous now though if you are a Pensioner thanks to junkie muggers.
Can't recall if we were in a chipper or a taxi rank, but one night inside some premises up the Hulltoon in the mid 70's, this drunken yobbo came in and started mouthing off. He was becoming a real pain but we all tried to ignore him. He then started to get a bit aggressive. Pointing at my mate he shouted "Hey you - kiss my feet!". This was repeated 2 or 3 times until my mate lost patience with him and replied "Tell ye what mate - you kiss my feet", and with a speedy powerful upright kick to the yobbo's kisser, knocked him out cold. Little did the guy know my mate was a Brown Belt in Karate at the time!
these scrawlings wouldve been made by what I would regard as the tiny hulltoon or maybe even their prodgeny, the likes of muff, jed jackson, larry devlin etc couldnt write too well it does say something about the education system getting better. m.rolfe
Are they not the NI students who live in 'campusview' and shine laser pointers at cars comin down the Blackie and Hunters St trying to make them crash ? sounds about right.

I met Steve 'Sting' Miller playing golf at carnoustie. He was a sound guy with a load of great stories about his hulltoon days. He laughed when I mentioned the sting is a bastard grafitti. He spoke with real affection about ralphy, bellso, gander ronni penman and the marnie bros. Said he tried to get them to play golf but they were scared what the others might say. He shared his chocolate biscuits with me on the course and bought me soup and a roll after the game. Said he retired after 34 yrs with a medical condition, but was running a five a side comp for young unemployed in hulltoon through a church group. I ended up really liking him, he can really play golf and his wife picked him up and she was much younger than him and a bit if a honey.

So many names I remember from my days at the Rosie. It is very sad to think that so many are no longer here. RIP Roddy Tolmie, Marnie Devlin, Larry Devlin (Skelly ), Lee Stewart, Doddie, Rodden. Does anyone know how Hendo is ? Paul Henderson had a sister called Lynn?
So many memories reading this, my childhood comes flooding back. I remember Gander the Mexican guy though he spoke with a Dundee accent, shocked to hear he was a sex offender. He used to sit and tell us stories at the seahorse about how he was the leader of the huns and picked the gang colours. Sad to think the HH was started by a nonce.
