ANGELS & ROYAL OAK ADS - 1989

A couple of local pub ads from April 1989.
Top one is for a drinks promotion going on at Angels in Ward Road. Their Crazy Casino game giving out drinks every 20 minutes!
Meanwhile, the Royal Oak in Brook Street was running an art exhibition by local based artists as well as reminding us about The Crush Club.

  1. Royal Oak advert definitely a "Nick Wright" one !
played there once with wilderness children and now its a jazz themed restaurant, my older brother told me there is a burn that runs underneath the pub , coming down from the law hill that's why it was always referred to as "the burns" ? urban legend ?
he is usually right though !

  2. The pub was called the "Scourin Burn" at one time (was owned by my uncle in the 60's/ early 70's) "Scourin" because I believe it was used as a wash place for clothes!
The art work defin. that of Nick Wright almost identical to his earlier work on menus and flyers for the nineties, west port version (and only real version) of the (ex De Vinci's) West Port Bar!
