A SIGN O' THE TIMES
Here's a quirky (or arty) wee bit of footage shot in the late 60's.
It's quite unusual because it has the word "Dundee" as it's main feature. So it crops up on things like road signs, shop fronts, work premises and so on.
1. could be any place 2.Linoleum Factory,South Road 3.pass 4.a grave in the Howff 5.Dundee Pie Shop,Hilltown ? 6.Blind Institute,Magdalen Yard Rd. 7.The multis look as though they are in Menzieshill,so the sign must be near Invergowrie 8. Coupar Angus Road, beside Templeton Woods?
2 is correct. 3 is the Dundee Engraving Co & Ironmongers shop in Lochee Road. 4 is in the Logie Burying Grounds. 6 is correct. Not being a motorist I'm not too hot on the road signs, but I guess now there must have been a few Ca Canny signs because I'm sure there was one coming into Dundee at Invergowrie end.
I remember the Ca Canny signs. There used to be one on Broughty Ferry rd near Carolina House.
