THE CRASH CREW - 1989
This is the full rave package..!! The ravers - the DJ's - the 12's - the fashion - the smiley - the graffiti. It's the Crash Crew in the summer of '89 in the Overgate. Thanx to JG
Wayne Dunbar, Cohn, Phil Jordan, Lee Sharf (and little sis?). Recognise the guy in stripes far left. Girl in black jacket Natasha possibly? Dunno about the rest.
I remember the graffiti it was on a shop up from the Angus, the little row of shops that looked across to Burns & Harris. Wasn't it a cafe at one point? Then next to it was an road to the back of the Overgate loading area.
I remember Happy Chappie and I think you're right. Wasn't the best clothes shop but was a step in the right 'yoof culture' direction at the time. Lasted about 6 months did it not?
Yeah, Happy Chappie sold all the Soul II Soul-type stuff, the leather pendants and so on. It appears also, that Lee's wee sister seems to be wearing a Lochee Fleet "Powerboat" jacket...
yep, definately Gail Craddock, and yes she was engaged to PJ! She was a model back then and a brilliant dancer, as I remember. She went to live in Spain, after PJ died.

ReplyDeleteIf you view the large version, you can just make out above the graffiti that it was an Optician.
ReplyDeleteI think once the graffiti and boards were removed, the shop unit then became "Happy Chappie" for a while.
