Although you can read the ads ok without needing to enlarge them, I'm gonna type out the content for "search" purposes.
So on at Fat Sams were - KEVIN McDERMOTT ORCHESTRA - FRAZIER CHORUS - GAIL ANN DORSEY - HURRAH!
Chevy's had - BIRDLAND - REFORM CLUB - BRILLIANT IDEA - A CAR CALLED JAMES - BIG BLUE 72.
And playing at the Royal Oak - THE RAINMATES.
Perhaps some of you remember popping along to catch 1 or 2 of these shows.
Gail Anne Dorsey ??? tell me it's NOT Bowie's bassplayer who does THEEEE best version of "under pressure" since Freddie has gone !
ReplyDeleteGreat post Retro - do you have anymore Fatties / Chevys band stuff?
ReplyDeleteI remember going to see Birdland at Chevys, seem to remember they smashed up the stage afterwards. They had one good song - Hollow Heart.
Also think I saw Hurrah at Fatties - they wore biker leather jackets and were from Newcastle. They were on Kitchenware Records, the same label as Prefab Sprout etc.
I could be wrong but, I think the Rainmates included singer Alison Burns and some members of Boo Hooray???
I got hit on the head by an empty beer tin thrown by Birdland's singer at that gig.
ReplyDeleteIt is the same Gail Ann Dorsey as played bass for Bowie. She was subject to major push as a solo artist by one of the majors around that time but didn't get very far.
