THE VAL D'OR ADVERT - 1968
2 items on the Val d'Or restaurant, starting with this advert from 1968. I can't remember much about the place, only got a hazy memory of being there with my parents in the early 60's. The Val d'Or translates as The Golden Valley.
You read my mind! I loved this place. Such happy memories of going there with my mum and my granny for high tea and, on special occasions, for a proper meal. Went for my dad's birthday one year before going to the panto at the Whitehall Theatre....my dad moaned about his steak being chough! The window seats were always the ones to get. Not sure when it closed down but it was certainly still open in March 1979. Thereafter it was a shortlived chinese restaurant.

I had no idea it was still doing biz in 1979. I must have just not noticed once I reached drinking age! GG
