I remember the Ascot Bar from when I was a student at the Commercial College in South Tay Street in 1968. Once or twice a week at lunchtime I would visit the bar with my mate Frank, and the barlady Emily would have 2 slightly overcooked meat pies for us. She would ask her boss if it was OK to give us them because they were "burnt".
