Sid Gripple gets in a wee tizzy after going to see Glasgow band, The Plastic Flies, along at the University sometime back in 82.
In this Cranked Up review, he can't quite make his mind up whether he likes this band of Clash clones, or not. There are pros & cons all the way through the write-up.
After doing battle with himself, he seems to have settled for giving The Plastic Flies a tentative thumbs up.

  1. I was there too. I remember they all wore those desperately fashionable japanese rising sun type ti-shirts. A poor man's Clash indeed. They didn't even rip-off the Clash when they were good!

  2. Thank you Sid and thank you very much for your opinion, uh, Bernie. I was that rising sun T-Shirt on guitar (distinct and then abstract). What can I say, we were 18 and it was the 80s. Be nice.

Sid was bass player in a fantastic band at the time (I'm sorry but I don't remember the names); distinctive, different, urgent, out on their own instead of following heroes (yeah, we were star-struck). Your review was as fair as we deserved.

  3. Aaga. The band were called Aaga. Great band, Sid.
