Here's a wee reminder from the mid 70's of the Broughty Ferry go-kart track and crazy-golf course.

  1. Spent most of my summers in or around The Castle Green. Now I take my own kids there and they play crazy golf on the same, (now slightly run down) course, using the same clubs by the looks of things. Also the Kiddie Kars, which are a damn sight faster than they used to be! Also a tad more expensive. You'd put a two pence piece into the slot for a few circuits of the track in the 70s... nowadays it costs £1.40.

Visocchi is still going strong on Gray Street. There was, however a Fyvie's next to the Castle Green, a branch of the main Ice Cream and tea shop on Brook Street – recently shut down, now a Costa :-( Fyvie's was a strange business in that it had a sister shop right across Brook Street selling hellish old-age fashions, and I never once saw a customer in there. Their windows were permanently covered with yellow plastic to stop the sun (what sun?) fading the dresses!

That wee Fyvie's near the beach though, was just a wooden shack (it's still there, but totally dilapidated.) and it had space for a few ice cream vats and not much else.
