SWEET TV TIMES - 1982

This kinky wee publication called "Sweet TV Times" was given out at gigs when The Junkies were entertaining the masses.
Needless to say, it has a fair smattering of Junkies related items in amongst a large dollop of SM fetish kinda material.
Bypassing the rubber and whips for now though, I've plucked out this item above - The Junkies Family Tree - covering the time of their inception in mid 1978 up to the time of the mag, summer 1982.
The very first line-up of the band consisted of - Alison Burns, Al Hendrickx, Vince Piggot and Mike Kane - after that it branches off into 7 different variants.
It's easy to follow the sequence of changes, during which saw Vince and Alison leave - then return again. Drummers in particular didn't appear to have a very long shelf life it seems, and by the time we get to line-up #7 even Alan McGlone was getting in on the act!
Just give it a click to enlarge.
Thanks again to Jock.

  2. And I reckon the Ian Jacklin mentioned in the line-up is probably the one who worked in Largs and is now playing drums with rock band Airforce.

His website is still under construction so is a bit hit and miss.

  3. Jeez! Was there a band in Dundee that Alison Burns WASN'T in?? Don't think I've ever come across somebody so hurting for fame in my life!

  4. ..and I'm meeting Alison in an hour to talk over future possibilities!
I don't think it will involve covering NY Dolls songs.
    Pity.

  5. Just noticed the idiotic comment on my old friend friend Alison.
Neither Alison nor me have ever sought fame and all we want to do is work, an attitude which has kept us doing so for over 25 years.
Such a snide remark from 'anonymous'.
    Typical Dundee.

  6. Got to be a wind up surely??? have you been in jail Jock ??? Jock does have a blog name, and gave up on futile posts long ago, but to be fair to the poster, Alison did try VERY hard in the Dundee music scene, shame she couldn't play the bass, BUT , hiding that voice for so many years was a real shame.

  9. Got where, exactly? Let's be fair, any half-decent vocalist can be successful if backed by one of the greatest jazz guitarists in the world today, otherwise she'd have been a success from her own hard work. And when said guitarist just happens to be your father-in-law...

  11. In the final issue of Cranked Up, it mentions a bit about The Junkies fanzine and it goes on to say "The band could be the first to play The Gauger Lounge in Dundee".
    Did they?

  17. there seems to be a bit of a blanking out of lineups here's three more Steve Higgins, Danny 'Bacon' Ally , Vince, and Gordon mc quillan: - Ally, Vince, Rab'Moose' Hunter and Pete Ross and Pepe Benidetti: - Ally, Vince, Pete Ross and drummer unknown (wee guy with curly hair, wore waistcoats) I have photographic evidence.
As far as Alison Burns is concerned multi talented is the word I would attribute to her and she was hot as well but with no taste in men but you cant have everything.
