OLDIES IN THE OVERGATE - EARLY 70'S

This picture of the Overgate was taken around 1973/74.
Not sure if the shops had a special discount offer for OAP's that day, but the senior citizens seem to have taken over the turf!
Being in my early teens when the photo was snapped, I would have been more interested in the fashion shops on the go in the Overgate back then, unfortunately, they have all been obscured by the thick foliage.
2 that I can spot poking through between the greenery are, Easiephit shoe shop, the lit-up sign on the left, and the shop with the open entrance in the background between the twa wifies, is the Great American Panthouse, who's shop doorway was painted in stars & stripes.

  1. Funny how pensioners back in '73 look exactly the same as pensioners in 2010.

  2. The scene looks a bit sinister to me.
