This ad featuring a Cuthbert's delivery van is from 1971.
As you can see in the ad, their Sunshine Bakery was based in Ure Street, but their vans were everywhere!

  1. Ah the joy of a mince roll late at night in Ure Street served (eventually) by Mr. Cuthbert (senior) (senior) who with heavy sarcasm we referred to as "Flash" He must have been at least 80.

  3. My Dad used to work for Cuthberts a long time back, recall him getting one of the vans to take us on holiday to Blackpool, presume it was on loan.

  5. Art college students with a deadline would stay in the college, sometimes overnight -(very much against the rules) - and sneak out through a window, to to Cuthberts for food. There was a woman there who served and would often just look over her shoulder then give us the sausage rolls etc for nothing. Thank you, whoever you were.
