JEREMY THE "SUGAR PUFFS" BEAR

In the 60's, Jeremy the bear was used to advertise "Sugar puffs" on tv, until a few years later when they replaced the real bear with a cartoon one. As a result of Jeremy becoming unemployed, it was kept at Camperdown Zoo, from around 1970.
Jeremy was actually a female, and she died in Dundee in 1990.

  4. A Bear to me is one of God's greatest creatures and I have been houered to have been in Jeremeys presence,
They kept him in deep, dark concrete pit where he had to wallow in his own shit and pish and let stupid fucked up parents in with there children, then one day he bite an underage child's arm off ,who was there after dark, when it was closed, and they kill him like a dog (captive Bear' Idunnno) Now we hear about this Hercules it's the same old thing, plaything to make money, I remember you Jeremy although I do not eat sugar puffs. (and it's best not to).

  5. Jeremy was not put down after the incident , times change the bear enclosure is massive now as for Hercules he was about in the 70s and was well looked after by Andy until he was put to sleep in old age Andy was subsequently buried with his bear , remember 50 years ago you could keep anything as a pet .

  6. Hercules wasn't put to sleep. He passed away naturally after coming out of hibernation. His spine condition returned due to the hibernation & unfortunately 'The Big Softy' passed away one morning after Andy & Maggie had been in to say good morning to big Herc. Does anyone know if Jeremy's keeper is still around? I had a great conversation with him back in 2014 - he had some great stories & was a very nice guy.
